OBITUARY
Bill Hamby, 72
Bill Luard Hamby Sr., 72, passed away June 27, 2010 at Central Baptist Hospital following a brief illness.
A resident of Partridge, he was a US Army Veteran and was a retired coal miner from Arch Mineral Coal. During his career he served as Treasurer of United Mine Workers of America Local 7425 and Secretary-Treasurer of UMWA District 19. He was a member of Fields Lodge 832, and the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Luard “Red” Hamby and Iola Dyer Hamby.
He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Elsie Cornett Hamby, four children, Billy L. Hamby Jr. (Marsha), Georgetown; Dorretha L. Rice (Eddie), Nicholasville; Pamela S. Napier (Earl), Bledsoe; and James A. Hamby (Christine), Knoxville; seven grandchildren, Bridget and Jesse Hamby, Brendan, Delany and Quinlan Rice, Christianna and Ethan Napier and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from 6-9pm at the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 1pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Combs officiating.
David Fields, Elihu “Butch” Cress, Dale Cornett, Jimmie Cornett, Matt Shelton and Kevin Clark will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Roland “PeeWee” Cornett, Bill Cornett, Eddie Rice and Earl Napier.
Interment will be in the Lewis Family Cemetery, Hiram. Military Rites will be observed.
Tri City Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
