OBITUARY
Larry Martin, 65
Larry Frederick Martin was born March 6, 1945, in Oak Ridge , Tennessee . He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and MTSU in Murfreesboro , Tennessee . After college, Larry was employed by Martin Funeral Home and Y-12. Later, he purchased Martin Funeral Home and was owner and Funeral Director while continuing to serve the people of Oak Ridge along side his father, Sam Martin. Larry was also the proprietor of other funeral homes, cemeteries, Rainbow Florist, and Ridge Automotive and Paint Supply.
Larry supported many organizations through the years. He remained an active member of the Elks Lodge in Oak Ridge and the Lynch Country Club in Lynch, Kentucky . Larry was also a proud Mason and Shiners. However, Larry’s most treasured membership was his faithful membership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) where he shared his testimony of Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. Larry was the executive secretary and clerk for the church.
Larry leaves behind his wife GlynnEtta, who me married for time and all eternity in the Orlando Temple together, Larry and GlynnEtta joined their families. He also leaves behind his son Scott Martin and wife, Glynton, granddaughters, Erica and Kristen, and great-gradson, Braxtyn; his daughter Sherri Ann Dickens and husband, Troy, and granddaughters Crystal and Valerie; GlynnEtta’s son Wesley Morgan and grandchildren, Elaina and Austin; GlynnEtta’s daughter Leesa Glynn and husband, Wayne, grandchildren Cheyenne, Corbin, and Tyler and wife, Tonya, and great granddaughter, Jency; and GlynnEtta’s daughter Kristi Kay and husband, Thomas, and grandchildren, Brittany, Kyra, and Trey.
Larry was the brother of Barbara Martin Carter and uncle of Brian Carter and wife Christy with great niece Briley. Larry also had special cousins Teresa, Judy, David, Ginger, Peggy Sue, Mike, and Ricky. He leaves behind many other loved ones and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his father, Sam Martin, his mother, Mary Snodgrass Martin, and his wife’s son Stacey.
Services will be held at Tri-City Funeral Home in Benham, Kentucky, on Friday, June 18 with receiving of friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and a service following. Saturday, June 19, will be the interment beginning at 1 p.m. in Peaceful Acres, Hiram.
